May Studio News

Hello hello fluties and parents! I’m so happy the weather is getting warmer and the sun is finally shining. As we are heading towards the end of the school year, it’s nice to start feeling like nature is on our side again.

Speaking of the end of the school year, May can get pretty difficult for a lot of students, so I try to go easy on a lot of them. Between state standardized testing, AP exams, SATs, etc. it can get quite stressful. It’s also audition season, so we tend to focus a lot more on audition and performance repertoire than anything else until the end of the school year. It’s a great time of year to really dig into that stuff, but I also work hard to avoid burn out for them, so some days we will chill out and play flute-related games or work on building a music history narrative that gives context to the things we are working on. We even sometimes like to get outside (weather permitting) and play through our lesson there. Sunshine is good for the soul, so I highly encourage practicing outside when the weather is nice.

Over and all, I’m so proud of the work everyone is putting in - between the students that are working hard on school and music and the parents that are working hard to help their kiddo succeed - you all are rockstars.

Starting in June, we are going to dig into coordinating chamber groups and working on recital repertoire, and we may even have a studio party coming up to celebrate the end of the school year! It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m super excited to see what kind of flute trouble we can get into over the summer.

You can always give me a call if you have questions or requests. I love working with every single one of you and I’m so happy you’ve decided to partner with me in your kiddo’s music education. It’s going to be a great summer, and I’m very lucky to have each and every one of you!

I’m so excited to get into flute shenanigans this spring and summer with all of you!

Do you know someone who might also enjoy and benefit from flute lessons with me? Recommend someone to me and you’ll get 50% off a full month’s tuition when they sign up!
