January Studio News

Happy New Year! It’s been a quiet month so far, as a lot of students were on break until about a week ago, but we’ve been working hard to plan fun and enriching activities for all! This month, we are focusing on dynamics and mindful reflection. While we learn the intricacies of playing soft and loud and everywhere in between, we’re learning to be kind to ourselves and look at our playing objectively without judgement.

Learning to play and observe without judgment is a huge part of being a successful musician. Being mindful and listening for the good and the bad without getting frustrated or upset will help us move forward in the best ways. We’re learning to breathe when we get upset and to meditate on what we want to achieve during practice sessions.

For the studio, I have completed an optional practice journal that takes all of these things into account. You can find a digital copy for purchase here, and physical copies will be available in a few weeks. I’m excited to be able to provide these types of resources for my students.

Even further, I’m excited to be able to offer FREE try-out lessons for homeschool students! We have student model instruments available for these try-out lessons and available for rental with a full month lesson commitment.

I’m so proud of my students and how far they’re coming along! Keep working hard and I’m so proud of you for showing up!
