April Studio News
Hello hello fluties and parents! Happy April! It’s springtime now and we’re starting to work on some spring related pieces, talking about Vivaldi’s Spring and diving deeper into Baroque composers and why we love them. It’s an exciting time because we just announced our summertime recital! I couldn’t be more proud of my fluties this year, so it was time to share their work. Please check out the Parent Portal for more information and be on the lookout for a formal invitation.
We have tons of exciting activities to work on this month, with a few students getting brand new pieces to start working towards for their recital. I’m also working hard to plan new events in the community, such as a flute choir reading and other small chamber ensemble opportunities for my students over the summer while band is no longer in session. It’s going to be a really fun spring and summer and I’m so excited to get to continue working with everyone.
The fluties in my studio are doing incredible work and I’m so excited to continue to see them thrive. I do push my students hard and expect hard work in return, but I also teach with empathy and compassion. I understand that no one is perfect and our studio IS the place to make mistakes. Our studio is the place to be honest and forthright when there’s a problem, when you didn’t practice as much as you had hoped, when you don’t like the pieces you’re playing, and when life is just getting the best of you. Our studio is a safe space for all.
I’m so excited to see everyone at the summer recital! It’s going to be one for the books and we’re going to have a blast. Please be sure to check out the parent portal for ways that you can support your flutie as we near recital time.
Until next time!
